Brightspace has its own ePortfolio tool which you can use to collect and share evidence with your instructor.
The completed reflections will then be added to a collection to help share them back with your instructor automatically.
They will also be added to a presentation which you can download it at the end of the semester to keep a permanent record of your reflective practice throughout this module.
On the following pages, you will find...
- a quick overview over the Brightspace ePortfolio;
- information on how to create a reflection using the reflective template;
- information on how to add the reflection to a collection and presentation to help you share it back to your instructor.

As a student, you will see three tabs at the top of the ePortfolio page - the ePortfolio tab, the My Items tab and the Explore tab.
Below, you will find more information on what you can find in each of the three tabs as well as information on how the tabs are organised.
You will mainly work in the My Items tab completing forms and adding them to a collection and a presentation set up by your instructor for you.
The ePortfolio tab
The 'ePortfolio' tab provides you with an overview of your ePortfolio as well as some quick links for adding files or links, creating a new presentation or collection, and an overview of your unread invites (Figure 1).
This text field provides you with a quick way of adding a reflection. You can enter text, as well as add tags, files and links.
Here you can filter ePortfolio content displayed in the list below. This content can either be your own ePortfolio items as well as ePortfolio items others may have shared with you.
This is the list of all ePortfolio items you created as well as all ePortfolio items shared with you.
This area allows you to quickly start building new presentations or collections, as well as add other items, such as web documents, form responses, course results and learning objectives.
This area will show any unread invitations to see, comment on or assess items other users might have shared with you.

The My Items tab
The 'My Items' tab will take you to a page, where you will be able to see all your personal ePortfolio content at a glance (Figure 2).
- These buttons allow you to add different types of artifacts as well as create new presentations or collections and perform other actions such as adding items to a presentation or collection, associating learning objectives with items, delete items, or import/export pages or items.
- This feature lets you sort results by modification date (oldest or newest) or by alphabet.
- Here you can filter items you see below by the various different types of ePortfolio items that exist.
- Here you can filter items you see below by 'shared' or 'unshared'.
- This is a list of your personal ePortfolio items.

The Explore tab
The 'Explore' tab is yet another page where you can browse for ePortfolio content, in this case any content shared with you by other users (Figure 3).
Here you can filter items you see below by the various different types of ePortfolio items that exist.
This feature lets you sort results by modification date (oldest or newest) or by alphabet.
This is a list of all ePortfolio items shared with you.
Here you will be able to see the name of the person who shared these items with you.

On the following pages, you will find out more about how to complete a reflection in the ePortfolio as well as how to add your reflections to the collection and presentation that your instructor shared with you.
When you are working on completing a reflection, we would recommend that you do so via the My Items tab.
You will work with three different elements in the Brightspace ePortfolio:
- Forms;
- Collection;
- and Presentation.
Both the Collection and Presentation have already been set up for you by your instructor and will automatically appear in your My Items tab.
Remember that you can enlarge any of the screenshots below by clicking on them.
Once you have viewed the enlarged image, click anywhere on the screen to return to the page.
Forms
You will use a so called Form template to generate a weekly reflection.
The form looks like a questionnaire or an online survey and has multiple components that you will fill out, including text fields and multiple choice questions.
You will find more details about how to complete a form on the page Step 1: Completing the reflection.
Figure 1 shows how completed forms/reflections will appear in the My Items tab.
Figure 1:

The Collection
The collection is like a folder on your computer which you can use to organise multiple files, i.e. Word documents.
You will use a collection provided to you by your instructor much in the same fashion. In addition to allowing you to see all of your reflections at a glance in the collection, the latter will also allow for automatic sharing of your completed reflections with your instructor.
You will find more details about how to add your completed weekly reflections to the collection in Step 2: Adding the reflection to the collection.
Figure 2 shows how the collection will appear in the My Items tab.

The Presentation
The presentation is almost like a mini website which you can use to display your weekly reflections in a nice, coherent way (Figure 3). At the end of the semester, you will submit this presentation for summative assessment and can keep a copy of it for your own record as well.
Figure 3: Presentation with weekly reflections
You will use a presentation provided to you by your instructor.
You will find more details about how to add your completed weekly reflections to the presentation in Step 3: Adding the reflection to the presentation.

Figure 4: Presentation in the ePortfolio
You will complete the reflections via a form your instructor created for you in Brightspace.
Follow the steps below to create your weekly reflection.
On the next two pages you will find information on how to add the reflection to the collection so it will be shared back with your instructor automatically. You will also find information on how to add it to the presentation which will make exporting it easier once you submit the reflections for summative assessment and so you can take your reflective journal with you once you are finished with the MSc Oral Health.

As mentioned before, your instructor will have shared a collection and a presentation with you which you should use to share your reflections with them.
A collection in the ePortfolio is similar to a folder on your computer which helps you organise files and evidence.
In the Brightspace ePortfolio, you can associate the reflections you created with the collection shared by your instructor. This way, evidence will be shared back with them automatically.
Remember that you can enlarge any of the screenshots below by clicking on them.

A presentation in the ePortfolio is like a mini website which helps you organise your reflections in a neat and concise way. In addition, the presentation can be exported which means you can download it at the end of the semester to keep a permanent record of your reflective practice throughout this module.
