Placement Supervisor Resources


Introduction

This resource is designed to prepare a range of professionals for their role as placement supervisors for students within their workplace setting. The materials will prepare individuals to explore and apply principles of supervision, work-based learning and assessment within their practice settings.

Candidates will gain valuable knowledge and skills required to fulfil their supervisory role confidently and effectively.

Learning outcomes:

  • Define the role of the placement supervisor and the process of supervision
  • Discuss the importance of essential supervisory skills
  • Identify key aspects of, and the underpinning ethos of, an effective learning environment
  • Apply learning and teaching strategies to ensure effective learning experiences and the opportunity to achieve competencies required by the programme of study
  • Apply principles of effective feedback and assessment
  • Contribute to the informal and formal evaluation of the learning experience
