Problem

The Drum's coverage of Sony's breach of the Data Protection Act will be used as a case study. Once you have read the case study you need to reflect on this and how it has affected the organisation and industry.

You should think about the following:

  • How do you think this has affected the reputation of the company?
  • What consequences could this have on other businesses if it was to happen to them?
  • Explain which part of the Data Protection Act you think was broken?
  • Think about your own job role, how do you ensure that you follow the Data Protection Act?
  • What are the 8 parts to the Data Protection Act?
  • Why is it vital that you and your organisation follow the Data Protection Act?
  • If your company was to break the Data Protection Act law what could the possible consequences be?
