The weather of the mid-latitudes is dominated by a near-constant interplay of warm, cold, moist and dry air masses of varying origins.  Warm, cold and occluded fronts mark the boundaries between these different air masses, bringing frequent changes in weather. Such fronts exist within the broader synoptic-scale weather such as high and low-pressure systems.
